Albie is trying out a cool new loud voice – her ELEVATOR VOICE. But not everyone is a fan. She visits with an opera singer who explains how volume can affect the meaning of what we say. Back on the elevator, Albie decides to create an opera of her own and demonstrate that there’s a time for loud voices, quiet voices, and voices somewhere in the middle. Find more Albie's Elevator on the @whyykids channel or WHYY-TV 12! Special Thanks to our friends at @operaphila for visiting with Albie! When Zia brings a new piece of art onto the elevator, Albie & Tibitz have very different reactions. Tibitz loves the swirls of blue but Albie just doesn’t get it. Zia suggests they visit some friends at the Delaware Art Museum, who talk about the pieces of art they like best. Back on the elevator, Albie realizes that different people can have different favorites – and that’s okay! Make your own artwork with free lesson plans and printables to accompany the episode you just watched! https://whyy.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/blue-rectangle-video-/albies-elevator/ Watch more Albie's Elevator on @whyykids or WHYY-TV 12! Albie is having trouble understanding why Zia needs space – after all, isn’t it fun to have your friends super close all the time? Together, they visit ballet dancers who explain that while some moves need a lot of space, other moves require dancers to stand close together. They demonstrate a lift, checking in with each other to make sure they’re ready. Back on the elevator, Albie decides to ask her friends before smooshing too close to them. Continue the fun at home by making your own secret handshake! https://whyy.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/pirouette-upset-video/pirouette-upset/ Special thanks to @PhiladelphiaBalletChannel for sharing your moves with Albie! After agreeing to help Rosie mail some cards, Albie is disappointed to learn that her job is just licking the envelope, instead of something more fun or exciting. They stop to visit friends at TWEE where they learn about all the different people that work together to create chalk. Back on the elevator, Albie is inspired to try again. She discovers a way to make her work fun and recognizes that no job is too small.
